JAMMU: Security forces recovered a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) during a cordon-and-search operation in J&K’s Rajouri district, officials said Thursday.A joint team of the Army and J&K Police launched the operation on Wednesday, based on a tip-off about suspicious movement in the forested belt of Kallar in Thanamandi.The search party found the explosive — weighing around 3-4 kg and concealed within a steel utensil — in Behrote Kallar Gali area near Dori Maal. Some empty shells were also recovered from the site and seized for investigation.A team from the bomb disposal squad rushed to the spot and defused the IED in a controlled explosion, officials said, adding that the area was being combed thoroughly.
